How to convert DIVX to M2TS
- Add your .DIVX file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .M2TS in a few seconds.
- Download your new .M2TS file.
What to expect
- The video is re-encoded from DivX's MPEG-4/H.264 to an M2TS-compatible codec, which is lossy and takes real processing time rather than a quick copy.
- Multiple audio tracks can usually be carried over, but embedded DivX subtitles and chapter marks often do not survive the change to the transport-stream format.
- The output targets Blu-ray/AVCHD-style playback; some general-purpose players handle M2TS less reliably than MP4.
Frequently asked questions
Will the picture quality change when I convert DivX to M2TS?
M2TS carries H.264, VC-1 or MPEG-2 video, so a DivX MPEG-4 or H.264 stream is re-encoded to a codec the Blu-ray/AVCHD format accepts. Re-encoding is lossy, but at a sufficient bitrate the difference is hard to notice; a straight copy is not possible because the codecs differ.
Why convert a DivX file to M2TS?
M2TS is the clip format used on Blu-ray discs and by AVCHD camcorders, so converting lets the video fit into a BDMV\STREAM structure or play on Blu-ray-oriented hardware that will not read a DivX AVI container.
Where will the resulting M2TS file play?
It plays in VLC on any platform and on Blu-ray players and AVCHD-aware devices. General media players and editors are less consistent with M2TS than with MP4, so for casual playback MP4 is often easier.
What happens to the multiple audio tracks and subtitles in my DivX?
M2TS supports multiple audio tracks and PGS subtitle streams, but DivX text or bitmap subtitles do not always map cleanly and may be dropped or need to be re-authored. Chapters from the DivX container are typically not preserved.
