Why convert CDR to DWG?
The main use case is sign-making and CNC workflows where artwork drawn in CorelDRAW must move into AutoCAD or a CAD/CAM program for cutting, routing, or engraving. Architects and engineers also occasionally need CDR artwork incorporated into a .dwg drawing set.
How to convert CDR to DWG
CorelDraw Graphics Suite EASIEST
Open the .cdr file, go to File > Export, and choose AutoCAD (DWG) or AutoCAD (DXF) as the file type. Select the AutoCAD version that matches the receiving CAD software and export.
Inkscape OPEN-SOURCE
Open the .cdr in Inkscape and export to SVG or EPS, then import into a CAD application that accepts those formats. This is an unreliable fallback requiring manual cleanup and works best on simpler files.
