Why convert PES to JEF?
JEF is the native format for Janome embroidery machines, which cannot read .pes files. Anyone who buys or receives a Brother-format design and wants to sew it on a Janome must convert first. Both formats store stitch coordinates, jump and trim commands, and color-change stops, so the conversion is a palette remapping rather than a reconstruction.

- Thread colors remap to Janome's palette during conversion - the nearest match is chosen automatically, but exact thread codes will differ from the original PES color list.
- Stitch coordinates, jumps, trims, and color-change stops all transfer without loss; the sewn design will match the original geometry.
- Before converting, confirm the design fits your Janome hoop - the file stores dimensions in millimeters, and resizing is easier before export than after.
