How to convert ORF to TIFF
- Add your .ORF file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .TIFF in a few seconds.
- Download your new .TIFF file.
What to expect
- Export as 16-bit TIFF when the file will be edited further; 8-bit output discards the tonal range that makes shooting raw worthwhile.
- TIFF files are large - a 20 MP shot can reach 60-120 MB; enable LZW or ZIP compression in the export settings to reduce size without quality loss.
- Olympus-specific metadata (focus points, Art Filter names) may not carry over to TIFF - keep the original
.orfas your digital negative.
Frequently asked questions
Can I batch-convert a folder of ORF files to TIFF?
Yes - darktable and RawTherapee both support batch queues. OM Workspace also allows multi-file export.
Will the TIFF look the same as my camera JPEG?
OM Workspace uses Olympus color science and matches the camera output most closely. darktable and RawTherapee apply their own tone curves and may look more neutral by default.
Should I keep the original ORF after converting to TIFF?
Yes. The ORF is your digital negative with full raw data; the TIFF is a processed copy. If you want different exposure or white balance later, you can re-develop the ORF.
Is TIFF a lossless format?
Yes - TIFF stores fully processed pixel data without lossy compression, so image quality does not degrade on repeated saves unlike JPEG.
