Why convert ODG to VSDX?
ODG is the ZIP-based XML drawing format of LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice; VSDX is Microsoft Visio's ZIP-based OPC XML package introduced in 2013. Both store vector diagrams as XML inside a ZIP but use entirely different schemas and shape models. LibreOffice can import VSDX but has no VSDX export filter, and no third-party tool reliably writes a valid .vsdx from ODG data.
How to convert ODG to VSDX
LibreOffice Draw FREE
Open the .odg in LibreOffice Draw, export as SVG via File > Export As, then in Microsoft Visio use Insert > Pictures to insert the SVG as a scalable vector object.
Apache OpenOffice Draw (OpenOffice.org Draw) FREE
Export the .odg as PDF via File > Export As, then insert the PDF page into Microsoft Visio as a background or picture reference.

- SVG import into Visio keeps geometry and text but produces a grouped vector object, not native Visio shapes with connector behavior.
- If Visio flowchart logic or tracked connectors are needed, rebuilding the diagram directly in Visio is the only way to get those features.
- Online converters claiming ODG-to-VSDX support typically fail silently or return an empty or corrupt file.
