Why convert JT to OBJ?
.OBJ is a plain-text polygon mesh format compatible with Blender, Cinema 4D, Unity, Unreal Engine, and most rendering and visualization tools. Converting .jt to .obj lets you bring a CAD part into those environments without a CAD license. Surface colors defined in the JT can carry over via a paired .mtl file.
How to convert JT to OBJ
CAD Assistant EASIEST
Open the .jt via File > Open or drag it into the window, then go to File > Export and select OBJ. CAD Assistant writes both a .obj mesh file and a .mtl material file.
FreeCAD OPEN-SOURCE
Open the .jt with File > Open, then go to File > Export and choose Wavefront OBJ (*.obj). Try CAD Assistant instead if FreeCAD fails on complex or high-version JT files.

- JT files often contain multiple levels of detail (LODs); exporters typically pick the highest-resolution mesh, but verify the output in a viewer to confirm the mesh density is what you need.

Frequently asked questions
Will material colors carry over to OBJ?
.mtl file alongside the .obj, so basic surface colors defined in the JT can transfer.
