How to convert FBX to STL
- Add your .FBX file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .STL in a few seconds.
- Download your new .STL file.
What to expect
- STL stores only triangle geometry - materials, textures, rigs, and animation in the FBX are all discarded.
- Many FBX models have open edges or non-manifold faces; slicers may fail on these, so check the mesh in Blender before printing.
- Scale can mismatch: a model built in centimetres may appear 100× too small - verify dimensions before exporting.
Frequently asked questions
Will textures and colors appear in the STL?
No - STL has no support for color or material data. If you need color for printing, export to OBJ or 3MF instead.
Why does my model look tiny in the slicer after converting?
FBX files do not always embed unit information reliably. In Blender, check the object dimensions (N key > Item tab) and scale to the correct size before exporting.
Can animation be preserved in the STL?
No - STL is a static mesh format. Only the mesh at its rest pose exports; all animation and rig data is stripped.
My model imports on its side or upside down - how do I fix it?
FBX files use different axis conventions depending on the source app. In Blender's FBX import dialog, switch the Up axis between Y and Z to correct the orientation.
