Why convert DAT to ZIP?
The .dat extension is a catch-all used by hundreds of unrelated programs, each writing its own private binary layout. .zip is a container for archiving files at known paths so they can be extracted and used. Wrapping an unknown blob in a ZIP achieves nothing: you cannot extract readable files from it, and the result is not a valid archive of anything meaningful.
