How to convert 3GP to OGG
- Add your .3GP file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .OGG in a few seconds.
- Download your new .OGG file.
What to expect
- The video track is dropped; the output is audio only.
- Vorbis is lossy, so re-encoding the already-compressed 3GP audio compounds compression loss.
- OGG is well supported on desktops but rejected by some phones and car stereos.
Frequently asked questions
Does quality change converting 3GP to OGG?
The 3GP audio is already lossy and Vorbis (OGG) is also lossy, so the audio is re-encoded lossy-to-lossy; it cannot gain quality and loses a little more in the process.
Why convert 3GP to OGG?
OGG/Vorbis is a free, patent-unencumbered audio format, useful when you want the audio in an open codec, extracted from the 3GP video container.
Where does OGG play?
VLC opens OGG on any platform, and foobar2000 and MediaMonkey handle it on Windows; some devices such as iPhones and car stereos do not.
What happens to the video?
It is discarded; OGG here is an audio-only file.
