How to convert VOB to OGV
- Add your .VOB file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .OGV in a few seconds.

What to expect
- The MPEG-2 video is re-encoded to a royalty-free codec (Theora/VP8) with Vorbis/Opus audio - lossy, and Theora is less efficient than modern codecs.
- Good for the open web and browsers, but many phones and editors do not accept OGV.
- DVD menus and navigation are not preserved.
Frequently asked questions
What quality can I expect converting `VOB` to `OGV`?
The DVD's MPEG-2 video is re-encoded to a royalty-free codec (Theora or VP8) with Vorbis or Opus audio, so it is a lossy conversion. Quality is reasonable but Theora in particular is less efficient than modern codecs.
Why convert VOB to OGV?
OGV is a royalty-free, open format from the Xiph.Org Foundation, useful when you want a patent-free video for the open web or projects that avoid proprietary codecs.
Where does an OGV file play?
VLC opens it on any desktop OS, and Firefox and Chrome play it directly in a browser tab. Many phones and editors reject Theora, so for those a conversion to MP4 is often the next step.
What is lost from the DVD?
DVD menus and navigation do not survive, and the video is re-encoded (lossy). Handling of subtitle and multiple-audio streams depends on the conversion.
