Frequently asked questions
How is the text represented in the FB2 file?
FB2 is a single XML e-book document, so the plain text is placed into it as body paragraphs, with structure inferred from blank lines and headings since the TXT has none.
Why convert TXT to FB2?
FB2 is a popular open, DRM-free e-book format among FBReader and Cool Reader users, so converting turns the text into a proper e-book for those readers.
What opens an FB2 file?
Calibre, FBReader, and Cool Reader open FB2 on desktop and mobile; to read it on a Kindle, convert it to EPUB first.
What is not preserved from the original text?
As with any plain-text source, chapter and paragraph structure is guessed from spacing, and there is no original formatting, images, or metadata to preserve beyond what the conversion adds.
