How to convert TRP to 3GP

- Convert it to .3GP in a few seconds.
- Download your new .3GP file.
What to expect
- The HD transport stream is re-encoded, and typically downscaled, into the low-bandwidth 3GP format - a clear, lossy quality reduction.
- 3GP targets older mobile devices and supports a narrow set of codecs, so the source streams are recompressed to fit.
- Transport-stream packet structure and broadcast metadata from the TRP are not carried into the 3GP container.
Frequently asked questions
How much quality is lost converting TRP to 3GP?
3GP was built for low-bandwidth mobile use, so HD TRP footage is re-encoded and usually scaled down, which noticeably reduces detail compared with the original HD recording.
Why convert TRP to 3GP?
3GP is a compact container designed for older 3G phones. You would convert to 3GP to play a TRP recording on legacy mobile handsets or apps that expect that small-footprint format.
Where does a 3GP file open?
VLC media player handles 3GP, including AMR audio, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and the older phones the format targets play it natively.
What is lost besides resolution?
3GP's limited codec set means the HD video and audio are recompressed to fit, and the transport-stream structure and any broadcast metadata from the TRP are dropped.
