Why convert NEF to PEF?
A raw file stores unprocessed sensor data together with calibration data, color filter array layout, and manufacturer metadata tied to the specific camera hardware. NEF carries Nikon sensor data; PEF carries Pentax sensor data from physically different hardware. There is no shared data model, and no legitimate software converts between them. Listings on some converter sites are legacy database entries, not evidence the conversion works.
