Why convert DWG to JPG?
JPG is needed when sharing a drawing with someone who has no CAD software, embedding a drawing in a document or presentation, or producing a quick visual reference. DWG is a vector database; the export rasterizes all visible geometry at a fixed pixel resolution, and the result cannot be used for downstream CAD work or high-accuracy printing.
How to convert DWG to JPG
Any DWG to Image Converter APP
Open the .dwg and select JPG as the output format; set the resolution before exporting. The tool supports batch conversion of multiple DWG files.
AutoCAD APP
Press Ctrl+P, select PublishToWeb JPG.pc3 as the printer, and choose a paper size - larger paper at a given DPI produces more pixels. Click OK and specify a save location.
ABViewer APP
Open the DWG, go to File → Export → Image, choose JPG, and set the resolution to at least 300 DPI for print. ABViewer also supports batch export.

About these formats
A DWG file is a CAD drawing, the native format of Autodesk AutoCAD, usually an architectural plan or engineering design. To view, measure, or print one for free, use DWG TrueView (Windows),…

Open .JPG details →Quality & what to watch
- DWG is vector; JPG is raster - all geometry, layers, and dimension data are lost and cannot be recovered from the image.
- Default export resolutions are often 72-96 DPI, which prints blurry at A1 or A0 size; set DPI explicitly or specify a large pixel canvas.
- JPG lossy compression introduces artifacts on fine lines and text; PNG is a better choice for most technical drawings.
