Why convert DOC to WPD?
DOC is Microsoft Word's legacy OLE2 Compound File binary; WPD is Corel WordPerfect's proprietary binary with a completely different internal layout. No open-source library has reliable WPD write support, so online converters cannot produce valid WPD output. Corel WordPerfect itself is the only application that can open .doc and save as .wpd.
How to convert DOC to WPD
Corel WordPerfect APP
Open the .doc in Corel WordPerfect and use File > Save As > WordPerfect Document to produce a .wpd file - the only supported conversion path.
LibreOffice Writer FREE
Open the .doc in LibreOffice Writer and export as PDF (File > Export As PDF) or save as DOCX - both are better-supported alternatives to WPD.
Microsoft Word APP
Open the .doc in Word and save as DOCX, or use File > Export to create a PDF - universally supported alternatives to the obsolete WPD format.

- WPD is a niche format; almost no modern software outside Corel WordPerfect reads or writes it reliably.
- Online converters listing WPD as output either fail silently or return a corrupt file - no open-source WPD write library exists.
- For sharing with a fixed layout, PDF is universally readable; for editable exchange, DOCX is the current standard.
