Why convert 3DS to AVI?
A .3ds file stores vertices, faces, UV coordinates, and optionally keyframe object paths. AVI stores compressed video frames at a fixed resolution and frame rate - the two formats hold fundamentally different kinds of data. To produce video, a renderer must capture each frame of the model as an image, which is a render job, not a file conversion. Most .3ds files are also static meshes with no animation data at all.

.3dsfiles are static meshes with no keyframe animation data; you must add camera motion yourself before any video can be rendered. - AVI is a 1992-era legacy container with codec compatibility issues; render to MP4 (H.264) instead for reliable playback on modern devices.
- The resulting video is a rendered image sequence - no 3D geometry, materials, or scene structure is preserved in the video file.
