Vad är filformatet JMCX?
En .jmcx-fil är en krypterad fil skapad av JM-Crypt, ett betalt integritetsverktyg från den belgiska utvecklaren E. Bourlard. Den omsluter en enskild originalfil, såsom ett dokument eller foto, i chiffertext och låser den bakom ett lösenord. Utan rätt lösenord och JM-Crypt-appen förblir innehållet oläsbart.
JM-Crypt levereras som två matchande appar: JM-Crypt PC för Windows och JM-Crypt Mobile för Android. Båda använder samma format, så en fil som krypterats på en telefon kan öppnas på en PC och vice versa. Leverantören uppger att chiffret är AES-256 i CBC-läge med PKCS-utfyllnad, encrypt-then-MAC-autentisering och en slumpmässig IV, där SHA3-256 hanterar hashning och HMAC. Allt körs lokalt på enheten utan server och utan bakdörr, så nycklar lämnar aldrig din hårdvara.
Formatet riktar sig till personer som hanterar känsligt material, inklusive advokater och läkare, och marknadsförs som skydd mot stöld och ransomware. JM-Crypt använder även de relaterade filändelserna .jmc, .jmck, .jmcp och .jmcr för andra krypterade filer och nyckelfiler i sviten.
Säkerhet & trygghet
RISK: LOWA .jmcx file is inert encrypted data and cannot run on its own, so the file itself poses little direct risk. The real risk is data loss: if you forget the password or lose access to JM-Crypt, the contents cannot be recovered, since the vendor keeps no keys and there is no backdoor. Only decrypt .jmcx files you created or received from someone you trust, and keep a secure backup of the password.
