Why convert VSDX to DWG?
VSDX is a diagram format for flowcharts, network diagrams and floor plans; .dwg is AutoCAD's standard format for precision technical drawings. Architects, engineers and facilities teams often need a Visio room layout or network diagram as a reference underlay in a DWG project, and Visio's built-in export provides a usable starting point.
How to convert VSDX to DWG
Microsoft Visio APP
Open the .vsdx in Visio 2016 or later, go to File > Export > Export to AutoCAD, choose AutoCAD Drawing (*.dwg), select AutoCAD 2000 for broadest compatibility, and save.

About these formats
A VSDX file is a Microsoft Visio diagram saved in the ZIP/XML format Visio has used since 2013. You do not need Visio to open one - the free draw.io (diagrams.net) imports VSDX in the…

- Shapes export as flat 2D polylines and text objects - no CAD blocks, parametric constraints, layer structure or dimensioning are produced.
- Only the active page is exported per operation; a multi-page VSDX requires a separate export for each page, yielding multiple DWG files.
- Visio requires a separate license (Visio Plan 1/2 or Visio 2021) not included in standard Microsoft 365 subscriptions; no free tool supports DWG output from VSDX.
