Why convert RDF to JSONLD?
JSON-LD is valid JSON, so any JSON parser can read its structure without a dedicated RDF library. If you are passing linked data to a JavaScript frontend or a REST API that expects JSON, JSON-LD is the practical choice over RDF/XML.
How to convert RDF to JSONLD
Apache Jena (riot) OPEN-SOURCE
Run riot --output=JSONLD input.rdf > output.jsonld; verify the @context and @graph sections in the output file.
Raptor (rapper) OPEN-SOURCE
Run rapper -i rdfxml -o jsonld input.rdf > output.jsonld to serialize the parsed RDF graph directly as JSON-LD.
Protege FREE
Load the .rdf file in Protege via File > Open, then use File > Save As and choose JSON-LD as the output format.
About these formats

- The conversion is lossless - all triples, URIs, and literals are preserved in the
.jsonldoutput. - Blank node identifiers (
_:b0, etc.) can change between serializations; if your application compares blank node IDs across files, re-check after converting. - Raptor and Jena produce expanded JSON-LD by default; use a JSON-LD library such as jsonld.js or PyLD to compact the output with a
@contextif needed.
