How to convert PDF to LRF
- Add your .PDF file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .LRF in a few seconds.
- Download your new .LRF file.
What to expect
- PDF's fixed layout is reflowed into an e-book; multi-column, tabular or heavily formatted pages often lose their structure.
- Image-only (scanned) PDFs produce no selectable text without prior OCR.
- LRF targets discontinued Sony Reader hardware; EPUB is more practical for current devices.
Frequently asked questions
How faithful is the converted book?
Calibre extracts the PDF's text and reflows it into the LRF e-book layout. Because PDF is fixed-layout and LRF is reflowable, simple single-column text converts reasonably, but columns, tables, headers and footers and precise positioning are often reordered or garbled.
Why convert a PDF to LRF?
LRF is the Sony BBeB e-book format used by the old Sony Reader (PRS) line, so the usual reason is to read a PDF on that legacy Sony hardware.
Where can I read an LRF?
Calibre can open and convert LRF, but it is a legacy Sony format for discontinued readers. For any current e-reader, EPUB is the more practical target.
What about scanned PDFs?
A scanned, image-only PDF has no text layer, so conversion produces pages of images with no reflowable text unless the PDF was run through OCR first; complex formatting and some images may be dropped.
