Some older tools accept only classic .pcap. Convert in Wireshark: File > Save As > 'Wireshark/tcpdump/... - pcap', or on the command line 'editcap -F pcap in.pcapng out.pcap'. Note this is lossy: pcapng features that pcap can't store (multiple interfaces, nanosecond timestamps, comments) are dropped or flattened. Often a tool that says it wants .pcap will actually read pcapng anyway.
