Why convert M3U to WPL?
WPL is the native format for Windows Media Player's sync and burn features. Converting from .m3u is needed when you want to sync a playlist to a device or burn a disc using WMP's built-in tools.
How to convert M3U to WPL
Microsoft Windows Media Player FREE
Drag the .m3u onto Windows Media Player or use File > Open. In the playlist pane, click the drop-down arrow, choose Save list as..., set the type to Windows Media Playlist (*.wpl), and save.
Notepad++ FREE
For short playlists, open the .m3u in Notepad++, note each file path, and manually construct a WPL XML file with those paths, then save with the .wpl extension.

- Neither M3U nor WPL contains audio; converting the playlist does not touch any music files - only path references are rewritten.
- M3U files often use relative paths; WPL stores absolute Windows paths, so paths from another machine or OS will likely need manual editing after conversion.
- WPL is Windows-only with no support outside WMP; for cross-platform use or IPTV, stay with M3U or M3U8 instead.
