What to expect
- The .cab digital signature covers the cabinet container and is lost when you extract and repack - the individual files are unchanged but Windows can no longer verify the original archive signature.
- Windows Update packages and DISM patches must remain as .cab; DISM cannot apply a .7z and there is nothing to gain from converting OS update cabinets.
