Why convert AZW3 to KFX?
AZW3 (Kindle Format 8) is an Amazon e-book container introduced in 2011. .kfx (Kindle Format X) is Amazon's current delivery format, produced only by Amazon's servers during publishing or Send to Kindle delivery - no public specification or encoder exists. DRM-protected AZW3 files from the Kindle Store also cannot be read by any third-party tool, blocking conversion at the first step.
How to convert AZW3 to KFX
Sideload AZW3 directly to Kindle FREE
Connect your Kindle via USB and copy the .azw3 file to the documents folder - the device reads AZW3 natively without any format change.
Calibre (EPUB output only) FREE
For reading outside the Kindle ecosystem, use Calibre to convert a DRM-free .azw3 to .epub, which works in virtually every non-Kindle reader.
