Why convert PRO6 to XML?
ProPresenter 6 saves each presentation as XML wrapped in the .pro6 extension. Renaming it to .xml does not produce a new or cleaner document - it is the same bytes - so the request only makes sense as "let me see the underlying XML" rather than a real format change.
How to convert PRO6 to XML
Open the .pro6 as XML in a text editor FREE
Copy the file, change the extension from .pro6 to .xml, and open it in an editor like Notepad++, VS Code or BBEdit to read and pretty-print the existing XML.
Extract text with ProPresenter-Parser OPEN-SOURCE
If you actually need structured data, parse the .pro6 XML with ChrisMBarr's ProPresenter-Parser and emit your own clean XML or JSON of just the slides and lyrics.
Export to a real interchange format FREE
For use in other software, open the file in ProPresenter and use File > Export to Text or images rather than trying to produce a generic .xml.

- Renaming to
.xmlchanges nothing about the content - it is the identical file with a different label. - The slide text inside is Base64-encoded RTF, so even as
.xmlthe lyrics are not directly readable without decoding. - There is no published ProPresenter schema, so any XML you hand off to another app will need custom mapping.
