Что такое формат файла MCDX?
.mcdx is the native worksheet format used by PTC Mathcad Prime, engineering mathematics software developed by PTC (Parametric Technology Corporation). Introduced in 2011 with Mathcad Prime 1.0, it replaced the older .xmcd and .mcd formats used by classic Mathcad (versions up to 15).
Internally, .mcdx is a ZIP archive built on the Open Packaging Conventions (OPC/OOXML) standard - the same container architecture used by modern Microsoft Office documents. Renaming an .mcdx file to .zip lets any archive tool inspect its contents. Inside the package, the key parts are:

Compatibility is forward-only: newer versions of Mathcad Prime open older .mcdx files, but an older installation cannot open worksheets saved by a newer one. There is no third-party tool that fully recalculates .mcdx content - unlike its predecessor .xmcd, which SMath Studio can handle. PTC offers a free read-only tier called Mathcad Express that opens many .mcdx files without a paid licence.
The format encodes equations, units, text, plots, and computation results in structured XML, making worksheet content inspectable by unzipping the package. File size ranges from roughly 20 KB for simple worksheets to 20 MB or more when embedded images and plot data are present.

РИСК: LOWAn .mcdx is a ZIP-packaged calculation worksheet. Mathcad supports embedded scripting/components in worksheets, so as with any document open .mcdx files only from sources you trust. The file itself is not executable by simply existing, and opening it as a ZIP to inspect the XML is safe. Avoid third-party "MCDX viewer" download portals that bundle adware - use PTC Mathcad / the free Express mode, or export to PDF, instead.
