Convert SHA256 to MD5

Can you convert SHA256 to MD5?
QUICK ANSWER
Is it possible to convert SHA256 to MD5?
No - not a direct conversion.

A SHA-256 hash cannot be converted to MD5. A hash is a one-way fingerprint; the .sha256 file contains no information about the original bytes, only the digest. To get an MD5 you must hash the ORIGINAL FILE again with MD5 (certutil -hashfile file MD5). Moving from SHA-256 to MD5 is also a security downgrade - MD5 is cryptographically broken.
