Why convert RTMAP to GEOTIFF?
RTMAP is a proprietary tiled raster map format from CompeGPS / TwoNav with no public documentation or open-source parser. A complete map requires multiple .rtmap tiles plus an .imp control file for georeferencing. GeoTIFF embeds coordinate reference system metadata inside a TIFF file and is a widely supported open format. No tool has implemented reading the closed CompeGPS binary to produce GeoTIFF output, because the format has no public specification.

Within the TwoNav ecosystem, TwoNav Land can convert .rtmap to .rmap (the single-file format TwoNav recommends) - this does not produce GeoTIFF but keeps the map usable on TwoNav devices.
About these formats
An RTMAP file is a tiled raster map image from TwoNav (formerly CompeGPS). It is not a standalone file - a working map is a set of .rtmap tiles plus an .imp control file that must stay…

- The RTMAP format is closed and proprietary with no published specification, so no GIS tool outside TwoNav can parse it.
- A complete RTMAP map requires multiple tile files plus an
.impcontrol file - a standalone.rtmaptile has no usable georeferencing on its own. - If you need GeoTIFF, contact the original map publisher and request an alternative download format; most commercial and governmental map sources also offer GeoTIFF or GeoPackage.
