Чего ожидать
- SRF stores uncompressed 14-bit Bayer sensor data, so every conversion must demosaic the raw signal - there is no lossless rewrap into TIFF.
- Export at 16-bit depth to preserve the full tonal range; 8-bit TIFF discards roughly half the tonal levels, which matters if you plan further editing.
- A single developed SRF can exceed 40 MB as an uncompressed TIFF - use LZW or ZIP lossless compression to cut that by 40-60% with no quality loss.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
Why does my converted TIFF look different from the in-camera JPEG?
The DSC-F828 applies Sony's proprietary colour profile, noise reduction, and sharpening when generating JPEGs in-camera; raw converters use their own defaults instead. Adjust white balance and tone manually, or look for a Sony camera profile preset in your converter.
Should I export to 8-bit or 16-bit TIFF?
Use 16-bit if you plan any further editing - it preserves the DSC-F828's full 14-bit tonal range. Use 8-bit only if you need a smaller file and are satisfied with the image as-is.
Can I batch-convert a folder of SRF files to TIFF?
Yes - both RawTherapee and darktable support batch export: queue multiple files in RawTherapee's File Browser, or select all images in darktable's lighttable and run Export Selected.
Is TIFF a good long-term archive format for SRF files?
TIFF is a solid editing master, but if preserving the original raw data matters, also consider converting to DNG with the free Adobe DNG Converter - it keeps the sensor data in an open, documented format.
