BCUP ファイル形式とは？
.bcup ファイルは、開発者の Perry Mitchell 氏によって作成された無料のオープンソース・パスワード管理ツール Buttercup で作成された暗号化パスワード保管庫です。ログイン情報、安全なメモ、支払い詳細、その他の資格情報を、Buttercup だけが読み取ることができる単一のファイルに保存します。
内容は CBC モードの AES-256 暗号化で保護されています。暗号化キーは、多数の PBKDF2 ラウンドを使用してマスターパスワードから派生し、SHA-256 HMAC がデータの改ざんを監視します。暗号化の前に、保管庫はテキストにシリアル化され、GZip 圧縮されます。古い保管庫は、保管庫の完全な変更履歴を記録するため時間の経過とともにサイズが大きくなる «Format A» を使用していますが、新しい保管庫は、ファイルサイズを旧レイアウトの数分の一に削減できるコンパクトな JSON 構造の «Format B» を使用しています。
セキュリティと安全性
リスク： LOWA .bcup file is inert encrypted data, not executable, so opening it cannot run code. The real risk is confidentiality: it contains your passwords protected only by your master password, so anyone who obtains the file can attempt to brute-force it. Use a strong master password and keep backups, because losing the password makes the vault unrecoverable.
