Что такое формат файла WEBMANIFEST?
Файл .webmanifest - это манифест веб-приложения, документ JSON, который браузер считывает для установки и отображения Progressive Web App (PWA). Он содержит один объект JSON, свойства которого описывают приложение: name, short_name, icons, start_url, scope, display, background_color, theme_color и другие. Когда вы добавляете PWA на главный экран телефона или рабочий стол компьютера, эти значения определяют иконку приложения, его заголовок и способ открытия окна.
Формат является стандартом W3C, впервые разработанным в 2013 году и поддерживаемым в браузерах начиная с Chrome 45 в 2015 году. Страница ссылается на него в заголовке HTML:

Безопасность и защита
РИСК: LOWA .webmanifest file is plain-text JSON with no executable code, so opening it cannot run anything on your machine. The only practical risk is that a manifest can declare protocol_handlers or file_handlers that register a PWA to handle links or file types once the app is installed, which is a browser-mediated permission, not an action of opening the file. Editing an invalid manifest can break PWA installation but poses no security threat.
