M2TS is the Blu-ray disc container that wraps each standard 188-byte .TS packet with a 4-byte BDAV timestamp, making packets 192 bytes. Some broadcast tools, hardware players, and video editors accept plain .ts but reject M2TS because of those extra bytes. Stripping them produces a standard MPEG Transport Stream the device or software can open. No re-encoding is needed and file size barely changes.
