Зачем конвертировать DLL в ICO?
Windows stores system and application icons inside DLL files rather than as standalone files - shell32.dll and imageres.dll are well-known examples. Extracting them lets you reuse icons in custom shortcuts, development projects, or archives. The .ico data already exists inside the DLL's .rsrc section; the extraction tool simply removes the PE wrapper and saves it as a standalone file.

- This is extraction, not conversion - the ICO data already exists inside the DLL's
.rsrcsection; the PE wrapper is simply removed. - Not all DLLs contain icons; if the Icon or Icon Group node does not appear in Resource Hacker's tree, the DLL carries no icon resources.
- Icon Group entries save multiple sizes (16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 256x256) in one
.icofile; the 256x256 slot in modern DLLs is PNG-compressed inside the ICO container.
