Чего ожидать
- Text, headings, lists, tables, and embedded images transfer reliably; complex multi-column layouts or custom styles may need minor touch-ups in Word after conversion.
- If you have a
.zabwfile (the gzip-compressed AbiWord variant), rename it to.abwfirst - the content is identical once decompressed. - Prefer
.docxover.docunless the recipient specifically needs the older format;.docxhandles complex formatting more reliably and is supported by all modern Word versions.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
Do I need AbiWord to open an ABW file?
No. LibreOffice Writer imports
.abw files directly and is the better choice for current Windows and macOS systems, since AbiWord's Windows builds have not been updated since 2010.Will the converted `.doc` open correctly in Microsoft Word?
Yes. Word reads
.doc files produced by LibreOffice Writer. Minor differences in font substitution or paragraph spacing are possible but easy to correct. Why use `.doc` instead of `.docx`?
Only when required - some older court filing systems, legacy software, or pre-2007 Word installations specifically need
.doc. For everything else, .docx is the better format. Are images inside the ABW file preserved after conversion?
Yes. AbiWord stores images as base64-encoded data inside the XML; LibreOffice decodes and embeds them in the
.doc output without any quality loss.
