What is IPT file?

Plik IPT (Inventor Part) is one of the basic file format used by Autodesk Inventor, a mechanical parts modeling, simulation and visualization software tool. IPT files store single 2D or 3D objects.

How to open file with IPT extension?

Fortunately, most common problems with IPT files can be solved without in-depth IT knowledge, and most importantly, in a matter of minutes. The list below will guide you through the process of addressing the encountered problem.

Step 1. Download and install Inventor

The most common reason for such problems is the lack of proper applications that supports IPT files installed on the system. The most obvious solution is to download and install Inventor or one to the listed programs: Fusion 360, Inventor View. Step 2. Verify the you have the latest version of Inventor

If the problems with opening IPT files still occur even after installing Inventor, it is possible that you have an outdated version of the software. Check the developer’s website whether a newer version of Inventor is available. Sometimes software developers introduce new formats in place of that already supports along with newer versions of their applications. The reason that Inventor cannot handle files with IPT may be that the software is outdated. The most recent version of Inventor is backward compatible and can handle file formats supported by older versions of the software.

Step 3. Set the default application to open IPT files to Inventor
