What is CTG file?
CTG file contains user-defined events catalog used by PATROL tool developed by BMC. CTG is a text file with strictly defined structure. CTG files are saved in /lib/knowledge subfolder. The file stores event information in the form of a catalog. Event class stores complete information about an event, including:

PATROL Event Manager is a tool for managing program events available as a API. It uses PSL scripting language. User can edit events stored in generated catalog using this tool. PATROL is a database integration and management solution for business clients. The software released in early 1990s and is still actively developed as a part of BMC Proactive Performance Management Suite package. CTG files are supported by both Windows and Linux. Although CTG files can be opened using any text editor, it is not recommended that users edit them manually.
